I’m one of those people who has a notes page filled with an endless list of Halloween costume ideas that only seems to get longer each year. The least I could do is pass on a few of those ideas!
Below is a list of 15 costumes from horror classics like Carrie and Freddie Krueger to pop culture icons Britney Spears and Taylor Swift. Hopefully, these ideas will inspire you enough to perfect your outfit ahead of time, so that you avoid the “I’ll just slip on a pair of cat ears and call it a day” look. Admittedly, we have all been there, but if you want to go all-out with your costume this year then read on.
Sabrina & Jenna ‘Taste’ Music Video
For her latest music video for ‘Taste’, Sabrina Carpenter took major inspiration from Halloween classics such as Death Becomes Her, Pyscho, and Addams Family Values, making it the perfect choice for your costume this year especially if you are after an outfit to wear with your bestie.

With the upcoming release of the Wicked movie in November this is the perfect year to dress up as the beloved characters from Wizard of Oz. Chappell Roan
It’s always a great idea to draw inspiration from pop culture when it comes to dressing up for Halloween, and who better for 2024 than Chappell Roan! Her album cover look for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is pretty easy to replicate and you can guarantee that everyone will know who you are.

Why be just a queen when you can be the Queen of Hearts? To nail this royally wicked Halloween look, start with a red dress, or perhaps a heart-shaped corset, because subtlety is overrated.

Catwoman
For a sleek, sultry, and powerful look, Catwoman is an all-time favourite. A costume that gives you the chance to channel your inner femme fatale. You can choose between different Catwoman iterations, such as Michelle Pfeiffer’s stitched-up leather look from Batman Returns or Anne Hathaway’s modern catsuit from The Dark Knight Rises, but essentials include a black catsuit, cat ears, and a whip.

Carrie
Another iconic Halloween costume. The defining element of this costume is the fake blood, which should be splattered generously across, well, everywhere.
