Copenhagen Fashion Week is renowned for being the cooler, edgier sister to the other key fashion cities. We can always count on the Danish capital to bring the drama, the beauty, and of course, the amazing clothes.
Here are my 5 standout shows from spring/summer 2024.
OperaSport
Taking place in the beautiful setting of Østre Anlæg in Copenhagen, OpéraSPORT SS24 collection took inspiration from the colours and silhouettes of nature. From earthy tones, the hues of the sky, the graceful silhouette of clouds, a blooming flower to the radiant warmth of the sun.
“OpéraSPORT was born with a responsible mindset, the relationship to nature is something that we value – therefore it feels so natural, that we are having our first show under open sky and surrounded by nature. We wanted to make nature speak for itself, which is something we have used as the creative direction for this show” states Stephanie and Awa, co-founders of OpéraSPORT.
25 looks were presented at the show, with a focus placed on practicality and feminine elegance. The collection allows ease of movement and comfort in the heat of the summer, with styles that easily transition from day to night. With an expanded range of unisex designs, this collection has been thoughtfully crafted to embrace both versatility and diversity.
What makes this collection even more special is the commitment to minimize waste. Styles from earlier editions and leftover fabric were upcycled and remade into unique showpieces that were showcased within the show and will be for sale after the season. A practice that is almost unheard of within the fashion industry and that deserves to be commended.

Paolina Russo
The highly anticipated Paolina Russo was this year’s Zalando Visionary Award Winner at CPHFW. The brand’s SS24 collection, titled Monolithics showed a multitude of baggy, low-rise denim in a gradient print that is a key expansion of the Paolina Russo universe. Classic indigo, earth, and tobacco tones are echoed in signature warrior-knit bodice tops, bralettes, and flounced miniskirts. A testament to being mindful of the environment. A notion that is reiterated in the production of the pieces where lightweight, cotton mono-fiber yarns that are biodegradable were used.
Bias-cut dresses in printed chiffon extend the brand’s commitment to a practical, comfort-minded approach to dressing, designed with easy dressing for a diverse range of body shapes in mind. Inspiration was derived from folklore and a fairytale aesthetic. Prints and textures clashed into styles that should not work, yet somehow do? Tribal adorned tops, semi-sheer sarongs, and chunky medallions were standouts.

Stine Goya
Always one of my favourite shows during Copenhagen Fashion Week and this season Stine Goya yet again did not disappoint. The collection featured 36 perfectly styled looks, each as wearable as the next. Shades of pink, blue, and lilac were complimented with earthier tones of brown and cream.
Traditional tailoring was given a modern twist with split hems and pearl button detailing. Perfect for the empowered, modern working woman that is looking for an outfit that will take her from the office to the bar.
Danish supermodel Helena Christensen closed the show in a gorgeous sky-blue midi dress which featured an asymmetrical shoulder and hemline.

Marimekko
Finnish design house Marimekko presented its spring/summer 2024 collection at Designmuseum Danmark, to kick off the celebration of the 60th anniversary of its most iconic print design Unikko.
Models paraded in effortless summer dresses, skirts, and co-ords amongst Unikko flowers that were derived from the original colourways of the 1960s. The collection merges feminine minimalism with modern utilitarian workwear, both equally representative of the rich design heritage of the brand. The pieces were playful in shades of pink, tangerine, green, and blue.
“We wanted to reflect Marimekko’s design legacy by highlighting two equally meaningful design aspects of Marimekko – the dress as a canvas and bold patterns bringing joy to people’s everyday life,” says Rebekka Bay, Creative Director at Marimekko.
