Now that summer is well and truly underway it’s time to look at some of the key 2024 trends I have been loving and wearing this season so far. While most trends are decided by luxury designers and look great on the runway, not all can translate to regular life.
So, if you’re unsure about what to wear for the remainder of the summer, or if you’re interested in which 2024 trends are actually worth the investment, here are five that I have not been able to stop wearing:
Micro Shorts

With the current resurgence of many noughties’ trends over the past year it’s hardly surprising that micro shorts are back. What is surprising, is just how popular this trend has become. Appearing in the SS24 collections of many major designers including Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Miu Miu, and Michael Kors this is clearly a look that’s here to stay. Micro shorts look great in summer when styled with flip flops or ballet flats as this helps to elongate the legs and create a flattering silhouette.

Capris

This is something I never thought I would say, but I have been loving capri pants this summer and honestly, I really hope they are here to stay. It’s a 90s-style silhouette that was also very popular in the noughties. Now as per the runway stylings of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Coperni, the board shorts and tailored trousers mix have been given a chic and sexy makeover. Perfect when paired with heels, a crop, and a blazer for a summer’s evening look, or embrace the functionality of the design for a busy city day.

Leopard Print

Not just reserved for the summer months, leopard print has been huge across all seasons of 2024 – making it a worthwhile investment. However, in the warmer months, I have been loving wearing leopard print skirts paired with a basic white tee – it’s a great way to incorporate the print into an outfit without going overboard.

Ballet Flats

Another trend I never thought I’d be glad to see return, but low and behold ballet pumps have been a staple in my summer 2024 wardrobe. They’re more comfortable than heels and chicer than trainers so really what is not to love? There are so many options to choose from too, depending on your personal style. From mesh and metallic finishes to slingbacks and pointed toes the ballet fat designs are endless.

This one is a staple every summer, yet for 2024 this trend seems more popular than ever. Largely driven by the return of boho chic, crochet has appeared on everything from dresses and skirts to tote bags and bikinis – and I can’t get enough. It is ideal for holidays when you need something light and airy to tackle the warmer weather.
