Trend Alert: Pants Are Out!

When did everyone stop wearing pants? This year apparently. Referring to trousers, and not your knickers, the ‘no pants’ trend started thanks to several American it-girls who are spearheading leaving the house pant-less. Kendall Jenner started the movement back in November with a no-pants Instagram post, but now it seems the trend is catching on. In Kendall’s defence, she can get away with wearing practically anything. But whether this trend infiltrates to the mainstream masses or not is yet to be determined.

In the last few months, countless celebrities have since stepped out, appearing to have left half their outfit at home. From Bella Hadid to Camila Mendes and now many designers such as Miu Miu, Prada, Coperini, and Christian Siriano are sending half-dressed models down the runway.

Micro-skirts and shorts have been getting smaller and smaller each season. So, I guess it was only a matter of time before we decided to ditch them altogether.

Whilst lingerie as daywear and sheer dresses are nothing new. For most of us, the thought of leaving the house missing our trousers is a no-go. And you would be forgiven if you fit into this category. This trend is impractical at its finest. Yet, so are most of the heels we wear and I don’t see those going out of style anytime soon.

Fashion is about fun and taking risks, and that is exactly what this trend is. If you want to recreate the trend, but don’t feel quite comfortable, perhaps ease into it with a pair of super short shorts over tights. Or, an oversized blazer or hoodie without the modesty-protecting micro shorts underneath. At least this is one trend we won’t have to invest much money in.
