What To Wear So You Look Good At A UK Festival

UK festival outfit ideas

The summer festival season is finally here in the UK, and whether you’re heading to Parklife, Glastonbury, or Reading & Leeds Fest you’re going to need a show-stopping festival outfit. Finding a UK festival outfit can be tricky given the temperamental weather, so if you’re in need of some inspo, read on for my favourite women’s festival outfit ideas as well as some tips and tricks.

What To Wear To A UK Festival

The most important thing to note about dressing for a UK festival is the unpredictable weather. It can be gloriously sunny all morning and rainy all afternoon. Just don’t let this put you off. The trick is to plan accordingly and pack breathable base layers and practical, waterproof outer layers. Wellies or durable boots are absolutely essential for the muddy fields. Trust me, it’s not worth ruining your favourite pair of white trainers. This also applies to bottoms – avoid maxi skirts with trailing hems or baggy jeans that can get caked in mud. Shorts and mini or midi skirts are your best bet.

Slogan Tees

For the ultimate cool-girl festival fashion, look to slogan tees. Bonus points if it’s a band tee for an artist playing at the festival, but graphic tees in all forms work really well for an effortless “I’ve just thrown this on” vibe.

Wellington Boots

This one speaks for itself; it is the UK after all, and the chance of rain is likely. Despite their main purpose being for practicality, wellies can actually look super fashionable, especially when paired with a cute pair of denim shorts and a jacket or tee.

Boho

Boho style is in the midst of a fashion renaissance, but when it comes to festival outfits, the boho aesthetic will never go out of style. The key is flowy silhouettes, double denim, tiered skirts styled with sandals or Western boots, and a lot of crochet and lace.  Think Vanessa Hudgens’ Coachella outfits from the 2010s as the blueprint.

2000s Nostalgia

For a playful twist on festival fashion, take inspiration from the 2000s. I’m talking bright colours, low-rise skirts, and cute camis. Zara Larsson is a great reference point for this aesthetic, particularly when it comes to festival makeup – just don’t forget the rhinestones and glitter.
