We are officially entering a new season; autumn is just around the corner, and with that comes fallen leaves, cooler air, and a whole bunch of new fashion trends to shop.
For fall/ winter 2026, many designers continued to embrace maximalism. Dramatic proportions, bold prints, and lots of embellishments were present in the majority of collections. If there was ever a time to have fun and experiment with fashion, it’s now. But not to worry if you’re still not over your Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy-inspired summer, as there is something here for the minimalists too.
Below are eight autumn trends that are set to dominate in 2026.
Asymmetric Lines

I’m a huge fan of any trend that adds subtle interest to the often-predictable silhouettes we see every year. And that’s exactly what has been done at Alaïa, Bottega Veneta, Givenchy and Christian Dior in the form of asymmetric lines. It helps to add movement to coats and tops while also creating a flattering shape.
White and Beige Layering

Colourblocking is still having its moment, but now it seems it’s the minimalists’ turn to take a spin on the trend. White and beige is the go-to colour combination to layer for fall/winter 2026. Just look to Bottega Veneta, Tory Burch, Missoni, and Tod’s for inspiration on how to elevate your neutrals.
Bold Checks

Checks are a staple autumn trend, but for 2026 they’re going bold. Whether it’s clashing plaid prints at Acne Studios, bright colours at Chloé or sculptural silhouettes at Louis Vuitton, this is not the season to play it safe with checks.
Dark florals

For anyone who is not yet ready to part with florals, you luckily won’t have to if the collections by Erdem, Dior, Givenchy and Dries Van Noten are anything to go by. Simply swap out your summer pastels for darker, edgier hues to add a touch of drama to your autumn wardrobe.
Jacquard

Following on from florals, romantic designs are set to be a huge trend for FW26. Jacquard fabrics are an easy, yet elevated way to lean into this trend for the colder months. McQueen, Michael Kors, Dior, and Tory Burch all showed structured jacquard designs that are very much appropriate for the fall/winter season.
Fur Coats

Another staple fall/winter trend is the classic fur coat. This season, the beloved winter coat was seen across nearly every major designer, from Burberry and Gucci to Saint Laurent, Chanel and Bottega Veneta. The good news is each designer put their stamp on the trend – presenting everything from cropped to statement printed iterations, meaning this is a trend for everyone.
1930s Influence

Dropped waists, ruffles, delicate embroidery, and satin adorned the runway at Chanel, Valentino, Ferragamo, and Miu Miu, hinting that a 1930s vintage revival may be on the way in 2026.
Going for Gold

If you need further proof that maximalism is here to stay, FW26 is all about gold. Shimmering and shining, this is a trend perfect for party season – whether with an 80s Glamoratti twist like at Ferragamo or striking and sculptural at Schiaparelli.
