For Dior Spring/Summer 2024 Maria Grazia Chiuri continues to explore the relationship between femininity and feminism. Chiuri is driven by the conviction that fashion has, more than ever, a responsibility to help women realize their worth and express their differences.
The show was presented against a backdrop designed exclusively for Dior SS24 by artist Elena Bellatoni. The installation, titled “Not Her”, includes over 300 images of sexist advertising. From the stereotype of the ”perfect housewife” in the 1960s to the recent ads of the 2000s displaying clichés of women coveted by a group of men. The central theme of this work is the commodification and objectification of the female body.
Against this powerful backdrop, Dior’s latest collection was presented in a very neutral colour story – particularly ash and chamomile. The feminine silhouette was accentuated throughout the collection in pleated maxi skirts that were cinched at the waist. Reminiscent of Christian Dior’s ‘New Look’.

Business core was prominent throughout in the form of oversized blazers styled over collared white shirts. Minimalism is central to this collection, which was a welcome juxtaposition to the bright and graphic scenography taking place in the background.
Standout pieces include a grey denim jacket and pencil skirt co-ord, finished with burnt edges. Intricate lace dresses styled underneath unitarian jackets which added an edge to an otherwise feminine ensemble.
