Everything to Know About the Retrofête Spring 2024 Show

Retrofête

Retrofête made its runway debut during New York Fashion Week on Monday night, and it was quite possibly my favourite show of the week.

New York-based label Retrofête was co-founded in 2018 by Ohad Seroya and Aviad Klin as a nod to the glamour and exuberance of decades past. The pieces are designed to evoke a fearless confidence with over-the-top silhouettes. Since the brand’s inception only five years ago, it has already gained a cult following of celebrity fans including Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama, and Paris Hilton.

Retrofête blurs the line between day and night, creating a life-of-the-party aesthetic within each design. The iridescence of the sequins, the bleached effect on the denim, the vibrant motifs on silk bodies. Each detail elevates a feeling of nostalgia with a modern take on fashion-forward, sexy styles.

The Spring 2024 collection was no different. Retrofête has perfectly mastered the it-girl wardrobe and we want it all. The collection explores a desert mirage where Earth’s natural elements collide with tropical palm motifs, sand tones, and snakeskin textures.

Standout looks pieces include chainmail tops and miniskirts, silk chiffon maxis adorned with wispy feathers, 90s capri pants, and an array of military-inspired looks in camouflage undertones. Not forgetting the ultra-slashed denim which may become this season’s it-jean?

“To celebrate our 5-year anniversary, I unveil my most vulnerable self yet.” says Ohad Seroya, Creative Director of Retrofête. “Spring 2024 encapsulates my childhood memories, worldly travels, and late nights spent at fêtes along the way. Each look tells a story of my life—from the dusty palm desert to listening to world-famous DJ, Offer Nissim—I am transported to an emotional memoir of my past. Our signature black tie and festive styling is complemented by a launch into footwear and expansion of accessories—I welcome you to the party.”

The brand’s seamless extension into accessories shows a new era for Retrofête. Exuding confidence with every step, slip into knee-high stiletto boots—enriched by functional

cargo pockets and buckle enhancements. Additional styles include over-exaggerated pointed pumps, mules, and slingbacks crafted in delicate Italian leather, available in a kaleidoscope of metallic colourways. As for bags, elongated clutches for cocktail hour and belt bags for off-duty dressing.

If this was the brands debut NYFW show, I cannot wait to see what is in store for seasons to come.
