Going to Europe This Summer? Here is What You Should Wear

what to wear in europe

If you’re lucky enough to be having a Euro summer you may be wondering what exactly to wear when in Europe.

Let’s be clear, there are 44 countries in Europe with varying climates, cultures, and traditions. For instance, you may be visiting Europe, but are you visiting countries in the Mediterranean like Spain and Italy or Eastern European countries such as Prague and Hungary? Where you are visiting will affect what you choose to pack as what you may wear when visiting one Euro country, may look completely out of place in another.

To make your life easier, below is a useful guide to provide you with some European outfit inspiration, broken down by the most popular summer destinations including Greece, Italy, and France…

Rome

@sylviemus_

Rome in summer can get extremely hot, so to avoid becoming a sweaty mess make sure to pack clothing in lighter fabrics such as linen or cotton. It’s also likely that you’ll be doing a lot of walking so sensible, comfortable shoes are a must. Loose-fitting palazzo pants paired with trainers and a cute, short-sleeved top would not go a miss in Rome.

It’s also worth noting that the churches in Rome have strict dress codes, so you’ll want to wear clothes that are not too revealing or that could be seen as disrespectful. This includes exposed shoulders, chests, and stomachs as well as short skirts.

South of France

@emmaleger

The South of France is the place to channel your inner Sofia Richie Grainge and wear quiet luxury this summer. Poplin maxi dresses, satin skirts, classic button-up shirts, and sharp tailoring are seen heavily throughout the SoF – basically anything that gives off rich-auntie energy.

Amalfi Coast

@annarvitiello
@gracefoley

One of the most popular tourist destinations remains to be the Amalfi Coast and for good reason. The coastline offers spectacular views, and if you’re hoping to compete then the typical beach attire of shorts and flip-flops may not cut it. Instead, think of elevated florals and bright colours and prints. Fun swimwear is always highly encouraged on the Amalfi Coast too.

Greece

@abbiexhooper
@emmaleger

Now if I were visiting Greece this summer, the only place I would be sourcing inspiration from is Mamma Mia. It may be cliché but who doesn’t love a cliché? Lightweight blouses are a must for any trip to Greece. Along with flowy white maxi skirts, blue mini dresses, and of course a stylish pair of overalls. Comfortable sandals are also an essential item to add to the packing list – you know just in case you find yourself in the middle of a musical number.
