Pantone announced that their colour of the year for 2024 is Peach Fuzz. “The colour needed to express our desire, to want to be close to those we love, and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savour that moment of quiet time” explained Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute. “It also needed to be a colour that’s warm and welcoming… and conveyed a message of compassion and empathy, one that was nurturing, whose cosy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility.”
Pantone’s 12-1023 shade Peach Fuzz is a light orange tone, chosen to represent the desire to meet in real life, away from our screens.
As always, many designers have already been ahead of the curve and adopted this shade into their collections. Alaïa, Balmain, Roksanda, and Missoni showcased this gentle peach shade in their SS24 collections. So, it’s to be expected that Peach Fuzz will be everywhere next year, especially throughout the summer months.
Here is how you can style the Pantone colour of the year, Peach Fuzz…
Dresses
Possibly the easiest way to style any new colour trend is a dress. You can simply throw it on without having to think too much about what to pair it with. Summer 2024 will be a perfect time for summer dresses in this feminine peach shade. If you’re attending a wedding a tulle dress like this one worn by Dalia Belickaite would be an ideal choice.
Coats
In need of a new coat to wear this springtime? Take inspiration from Alaïa and choose one in a peachy hue. Peach Fuzz looks the best when paired with either light, neutral tones or block colours. So, keep it simple underneath in white or cream. Or, choose complimentary springtime colours such as pinks and yellows.
