Unless you were living under a rock last summer, you will know that Barbiecore was one of 2023’s biggest fashion trends and it seems like this year, it’s back for round two.
The Barbie summer of 2023 was one to remember, so its resurgence this year is unsurprising. Due largely to the huge success of Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie, this is a trend that really took over the world. Pink is now a staple colour in our wardrobes and the desire to have fun and explore our imagination when it comes to fashion is back!
Celebrities have already been quick to jump back on the Barbiecore train. Jennifer Lopez was seen wearing a sequin-adorned pink David Koma mini dress at Intimissi’s latest in-store event to celebrate the launch of her Silky Intimates campaign. Whilst Selena Gomez wore a buttoned-up dress with a matching wool coat and pointed-toe stiletto – all in a stunning shade of bubblegum pink – to the launch of her new Rare Beauty blush.
The spring/ summer 2024 runways were also adorned with shades of Barbie pink. Cementing this trend as a trend that will last beyond one season. With designers including Alaïa, Laquan Smith, Moschino, Versace, Carolina Herrera, Marni, Roberto Cavalli, and Patou all clearly not ready to give up the Barbiecore aesthetic.
