The peplum trend is one that we never thought we would welcome back into our wardrobes. Along with low-rise jeans, ballet flats, and velour tracksuits. But low and behold, along with its trendy Y2K counterparts, it’s back and we may have Emma Stone to thank.
Over the past few years, the trend made its resurgence as always on the runway. Showing up in the spring and fall collections of Christian Dior, Jacquemus, Richard Quinn, ERDEM, and Louis Vuitton. ERDEM in particular gave the silhouette a modern twist for SS24, offering a romantic theme with delicate mesh and floral embroidery.
It does seem, however, that it has taken a while for peplum to catch on with the masses. Until Emma Stone accepted her Academy Award for Best Actress earlier this month, wearing a stunning mint-green silk jacquard Louis Vuitton gown the trend was well and truly cemented
So, whether you love it or hate it, the peplum trend is here to stay for 2024. Read on for some how-to style tips and inspiration…

How to style the peplum trend
One of the chicest ways to style peplum is through a trophy jacket. Take inspiration from Kendall Jenner and wear a peplum jacket with a matching pencil skirt.
For a more casual look, balance out the shape of a peplum top with wide-leg jeans or trousers. You’ll achieve a leaner silhouette whilst still keeping the defined waist attained from wearing peplum.
Avoid wearing skin-tight trousers with peplum on top (like we did in the 2000s.) It throws off your proportions and will ultimately make you look shorter.
