new york fashion week

Fashion month is back again and kicking things off as always is New York Fashion Week and this season its expected to be a good one. There is of course the usual must-see shows of Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, and Tommy Hilfiger. But this season will also see Ib Kamara showing his sophomore collection and making his NYFW debut for Off-White.

With plenty of new brands and old faithfuls debuting their Spring/Summer 2025 collections, here is a roundup of the best of the best collections from New York Fashion Week…

Michael Kors

With a moodboard consisting of snapshots of Mediterranean beaches and Netflix’s latest thriller Ripley starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning, Michael Kors transported us to Italy for his latest collection for Spring/Summer 2025.

Kors showed that the ‘office siren’ trend is going nowhere soon. Belted blazers, vests, and pencil skirts were featured heavily. In fact, belts were one of the key takeaways of the collection, appearing on everything from sweaters to midi dresses and coats. The cinched silhouette offered a refreshing ’50s take on corporate-core and creates a collection that is glamorous, yet wearable.

Ralph Lauren

Officially, New York Fashion Week hadn’t even begun when Ralph Lauren debuted his latest collection for Spring/Summer 2025. Yet he managed to set the bar high for all the collections to come. Presented in Bridgehampton to a star-studded guest list including Dr Jill Biden, Jude Law, Tom Hiddleston, and Kacey Musgraves, the collection celebrated the designers favourite things. From horses and vintage cars to the Polo Bar – which was recreated for the occasion.

The collection showed what Ralph does best – appeal to the generations. With couples, families, and children making up the A+ casting of models. Not to mention OG supermodels Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington.

Coastal inspiration was channelled into the collection including a white and blue colour palette, crisp menswear tailoring and it wouldn’t be a Ralph Lauren show without Americana classics like his iconic flag sweater. Equestrian touches were seen throughout and for accessories, Lauren’s love of all things automotive inspired his new The Ralph collection of bags, inspired by the detailing of vintage car interiors.

Alaïa

The house of Alaïa’s creative director Pieter Mulier picked an iconic location to host the Spring/Summer 2025 collection: The Guggenheim museum. The curvilinear Frank Lloyd Wright ramp served as an elaborate runway for a model cast including Mona Tougaard, Vittoria Ceretti and Kendall Jenner. Surprisingly, this marks the first time that the museum has played host to a fashion show.

The collection itself largely consisted of hooded dresses, pleated skirts, and voluminous puffball creations. There was plenty of skin on show and in typical Azzedine fashion, sculptural silhouettes that required no need for buttons or zippers.

Off-White

Ib Kamara’s Spring 2025 collection for Off-White was inspired by a trip to Ghana. A touching tribute to the home country of the sporty fashion imprint’s late founder Virgil Abloh. Kamara transformed Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 into a massive pick-up basketball court to showacase the collection which marks the brands debut at NYFW.

Titled “Duty Free,” the Spring/Summer 2025 collection represented a mixture of America and Africa through the sportswear. Menswear formed a metropolitan uniform, with utilitarian zippers, denim, and asymmetrical layers. Sleeveless hoodies were shown with zippered sections down the torso. Whilst varsity jackets were coated in depictions of the brand’s signage.

As for womenswear, silhouettes were strong, shaping the body with seductive cuts. Dresses showcased plunging necklines, often down to the belly button whilst hemlines were shown in varying lengths. Sequins and feathers adorned skirts and zip-up jackets incorporated corsetry on the waist.
