I’m currently on my millionth rewatch of Sex and the City, and what always strikes me is how Carrie Bradshaw’s outfits remain one of fashion’s most enduring sources of inspiration. I’m speaking on a personal level as I try to recreate the Carrie Bradshaw aesthetic into my own style. But I also constantly spot nods to her wardrobe in street style and on Instagram. From bold prints and sexy slip dresses, to the iconic newspaper dress, so much of her style can be replicated today. A Carrie Bradshaw 2025 Take on Capri Pants
If there’s one summer 2025 trend that I know Carrie would be obsessed with it is capri pants. She wore them several times throughout the course of Sex and the City when they were the height of fashion in the late 90s/ early 2000s. And lucky for us, they’re back in style again. She would particularly love this matching set worn by Grace Joshua. Perfect for brunch or shopping dates with the girls or when you just need a break from jeans.
Boudoir Dressing
Pyjamacore is another 2025 trend Carrie would definitely lean into. The look she wore in the first movie while running to Miranda’s on NYE’s may have actually been pyjamas, but in true Carrie fashion she made it look like an outfit that would be totally acceptable to wear during the day. Playful Prints and Shorts, à la Carrie

It’s the exact kind of look she would wear when running around NYC on a hot summer’s day. It reminds me of the yellow shorts, blue crop combo Carrie wore in season 2, but with a modern twist.
Sequins and City Streets
If there is one thing I could steal from Carrie Bradshaw’s closet it would be her curation of low-rise midi skirts. In particular, the pink sequin midi in season 2. The best part is this is a style that is very much current today. If you haven’t noticed, colourful sequins are everywhere this summer. They pair particular well with a basic tank (à la Carrie) and ballet flats. Though, Carrie would likely swap the ballets for heels.
Maximalist Prints That Scream Carrie Bradshaw
One thing about Carrie was that she was not afraid to experiment with fashion. She was a big fan of bold, maximalist prints, often pairing (read: clashing) them with other bold, maximalist prints. But yet it worked and quickly became one of the sartorial choices we love the most about her. If you’re wanting to channel this part of the Carrie Bradshaw aesthetic then there is perfect time than the present. 2025 is the year we have deemed quiet luxury out and maximalism in, and Carrie would be all over it.
Simplicity is Key
One the other hand, she valued the timelessness of simplicity. As most of Carrie Bradshaw’s most iconic outfits are actually the effortless ones. The white Dior ‘revenge dress’ that she wore when showing up to Big and Natasha’s engagement party is still one of my favourite Carrie looks of all time. And let’s not forget the iconic bodycon tank dress, which is probably the most replicated outfit from Sex and the City to date.
