Method dressing has become a huge red carpet trend in recent years. With stars paying sartorial homage to their on screen characters to fuel further excitement for the films release. Zendaya in particular is a veteran in the field of method dressing, and let’s not forget Margot Robbie’s iconic reinventions of some of Barbie’s most beloved looks during the 2023 press tour. One of last years biggest film releases was of course, Wicked. With a stellar cast including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo playing two of Broadways most legendary characters, the world prepared for a Wicked press tour of stylish and epic proportions.
The pair gave subtle nods to their characters, Elphaba and Glinda, for months leading up to the official press run. With the stars even turning up to the Paris Olympics in the pink and green colour palette of their Wicked characters. And once the press tour was well and truly underway we saw some of the best method dressing looks to date that perfectly captured the essence of Oz.
Now, with Wicked: For Good set to hit cinemas in a matter of weeks we can rejoicyify that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will be bringing wicked looks back to the Emerald carpet.

While the Wicked premiere consisted largely of bubblegum pink hues for Ariana, this time around seems to mark a shift with the actress opting to nod to Elphaba in an archival 1952 one-shoulder gown by Gilbert Adrian (the costume designer for The Wizard of Oz). Meanwhile Cynthia complimented Ariana wonderfully in custom Prada.
