Coperni Brings The Magic To Fashion Week

If nothing else, it can be said that Coperni know how to put on a fashion show.

What I love the most about fashion is the fantasy. It allows us to transcend the ordinary and escape into a world of creativity, imagination, and self-expression. For Spring Summer 2025, Coperni Creative Directors Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant took this idea to the extreme, by presenting a collection that was “a celebration of “youth, nostalgia, and imagination.” Oh, and it was shown at Disneyland Paris no less. I quite literally cannot think of a more enchanting backdrop for a fashion show than Sleeping Beauties castle.

Theme and inspiration

The collection is first and foremost a tribute to the timeless Disney classics that brightened our childhoods. Meyer and Vaillant were inspired by the enchanting narratives and iconic characters of the films, but rather than recreate the stories, the designers aim was to breathe new life into them. Crafting a contemporary poetry that transcends nostalgia.

It is a collection that speaks to everyone — the princes and princesses, rebellious teenagers, and powerful heroes and villains we all have the capacity to represent. It reflects how we feel today and what we want to wear.

Standout moments

Throughout the collection, beloved Disney symbols have been reinterpreted. The apple of Snow White, the damaged clothes that turn into ball gowns, the enchanted rose from Beauty and the Beast, and the aquatic world of The Little Mermaid. Each representing the idea of transition in different ways.

The collection unfolds as a three acts movie. The first, a celebration of youth and candidness,
capturing the essence of carefree early years. Inspired by Victorian elements and adorned with delicate organza butterflies, the looks evoke nostalgia and adventure. Vintage Disney t-shirts blend with modern styles, while aquatic themes emerge through prints of beloved characters.

The second act marks the introduction of the powerful villains. Their monochromatic, structured outfits embody disruption and growth, transforming classic villain elements into striking modern garments.

Finally, the collection blooms for the transformation of the princesses. Flowers become bionic and dresses transform like butterflies emerging from cocoons, symbolising the rebirth of innocence into powerful femininity. Classic silhouettes are reimagined through contemporary designs, blending tradition with innovation.

Without a doubt, one of the biggest standout moments of the show was Kylie Jenner making her Paris Fashion Week debut. Jaws dropped as she closed out the show, and fashion month, in a dramatic strapless black gown fit for a princess. As she walked, Disney’s famous firework display began which made for an unforgettable vision to end an unforgettable collection.
