Emily in Paris season 5 is almost here. Everyone’s favourite guilty pleasure Netflix show will return to our screens on December 18. While things are expected to change quite a bit with the new season set in Rome (Emily in Rome?), one thing is for certain: we can expect plenty of incredible looks.
Thanks to Patricia Field, Emily in Paris has become the new go-to show for fashion lovers. Sure, some of them are ridiculously outlandish, somewhat questionable, and totally inappropriate for a day at the office – but isn’t that why we love it? We viewers, don’t want realism, and Emily in Paris is escapism at its finest.
Yet, thankfully, there is a lot of inspiration to be taken from the wardrobes of the Emily in Paris characters that can and should be worn in the real world. From the sharp Parisian tailoring of Sylvie to Emily’s loud prints and colour blocking, here are six Emily in Paris-inspired fashion trends to wear this year.
Colourblocking

No one loves to clash colours or prints more than Emily Cooper, and even though some of her looks can be questionable at times, her maximalist outfits are actually bang on trend. Colour blocking is especially huge for 2025, I’m talking colour combinations that absolutely shouldn’t make sense, but very much do. And you only need to look at the past four seasons of Emily in Paris to get some outfit inspiration.

Parisian Tailoring

I couldn’t very well write about fashion from Emily in Paris without referencing Parisian style. Emily’s love for berets may be too on the nose, but classic Parisian tailoring is where it’s at. Think clean-cut blazers, crisp shirts, satin blouses and tailored trousers. Sylvie and Camille, as true Parisians, are the ones to watch if you want to nail this trend.
Statement Outerwear

Winter fashion doesn’t have to mean neutral tones. In fact, it’s way more fun to go against the grain and be bold with your sartorial choices, especially outerwear. Nobody proves this more than the characters of Emily in Paris, who regularly style plush coats and jackets in bright and bold hues and funky prints.
Officecore

If you’ve ever watched Emily in Paris and wished you could work at Agence Grateau, you’re not alone, but just know that an entry requirement is a killer wardrobe. Sure, six-inch platforms and mini dresses may not be the most practical for a day in the office, but Emily in Paris sure does offer a lot of officewear inspiration.
Polka Dots

Emily is no stranger to a polka dot, and neither should we be. In case you hadn’t noticed, polka dots were everywhere this summer, and thankfully they’re set to stay in our wardrobes for the foreseeable. It’s actually one of the more wearable prints that Emily likes to throw on, making it perfect for those of us who don’t like to be too out-there.

Quiet Luxury vs Maximalism

One of the biggest shifts we have seen in fashion recently is the move from quiet luxury to maximalism. Minimalistic, old-money style is timeless and will forever be part of the zeitgeist, but it can’t be denied that we are favouring louder fashion more and more. And if there is one fashion that is especially evident when watching Emily in Paris, it’s maximalism. It’s a look most of the characters seem to reach for, with the exception of Sylvie, who still leans towards a softer aesthetic of classic lines and neutral colours.
