The return of 70s boho chic fashion was not on my bingo card for this year, but so far, I am really loving it. After a brief revival in the early 2000s, vintage-inspired boho style is making a comeback this year, largely thanks to the latest fall/winter 2024 collection from Chloé.
The debut collection from Chloé’s new creative director, Chemena Kamali, was filled with frills, chiffon, floaty blouses, and a muted colour palette. With ultra-feminine pieces accessorised with over-the-knee boots and statement sunglasses. Whilst this collection clearly took inspiration from the past, there were plenty of modern touches including logo-adorned belts which help to make this classic trend feel super fresh. For one, this is a trend that has never gone out of style; Sienna Miller was seen, deservedly, sitting front row at the show.
It’s not just Chloé that is bringing back boho chic either. Over the last couple of seasons elements of bohemia have cropped up in the collections of Ermanno Scervino, Etro, and Giambattista Valli.
Boho style is a trend that is very much welcome, especially as we head into summer and festival season. It is fun, and playful, but also very sexy. Is it any wonder that practically every It-girl in the 2000s was rocking this trend? It is a sharp contrast to the mob wife aesthetic that has been dominating over the past few months, but as we head into the warmer weather, people are craving the softness and subtle allure that boho chic brings.
